Naiset and Hind Huts: FAQ's

Do I need to make reservations?

Yes, reservations are mandatory for the Naiset Huts and the Hind Hut. The Naiset Huts sold out months in advance. Campgrounds are also reservation only and also full. If you do not have a reservation, BC Parks advises that you do not enter the park.

The huts are accessible in the off-season (April, May and until June 21 and after Sept 30) but the Wonder Lodge Cooking Shelter is not open and there are no flights into the area or any emergency services availalble.  Reservations are not required in the off-season but please check with our office before finalizing your travel plans.

Reservations are mandatory for Winter Naiset stays between February 18 and March 31, 2024.  Please contact our office for details.

Summer 2024 Hind Hut - will be open.  Reservations can be made as of May 1, 2024.

What is in the Wonder Lodge Cooking Shelter?

Where can I buy fire logs for the wood stoves in the Naiset Huts?

A campground custodian will come by the Naiset Huts every evening to sell fire logs for the Naiset wood stoves. Please bring cash to purchase fire logs appx $10 per log. You may not cut down trees or burn ground fall in the Park.

Do you offer guided hiking or skiing?

No. A stay at the Naiset Huts is a self-catered, self-guided experience.

Should I bring bear spray?

Yes. Think of it more as ‘animal deterrent’ as it can be used to discourage a bear or even a moose, from approaching you. Have it easily accessible (ie not in the bottom of your day pack) and know how to use it without causing harm to yourself or your companions. Bear spray is a last resort and should only be used if being directly threatened by wildlife.

Are dogs allowed at the Naiset Huts?

Pets/domestic animals are not allowed in park buildings or beach areas, including the Naiset Huts. Pets must be on a leash at all times. You are responsible for their behaviour and must dispose of their excrement. Backcountry areas are not suitable for dogs or other pets due to wildlife issues and the potential for problems with bears.

Are meals available at Assiniboine Lodge for Naiset guests?

Afternoon Tea (4:00-5:00pm) is available to Naiset Hut Guests and Campers on non-helicopter days (i.e. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Sunday instead of Monday on the August and September long weekends). Afternoon tea will only be served outside in front of the lodge. Wine, beer, tea and cake can also be purchased at tea time. Please bring cash. While we can process credit cards, we serve customers with cash first and they have a higher frequency of being declined due to slow connection.

There are no other meal services available at Assiniboine Lodge.

Can I shower or use the sauna at Assiniboine Lodge?

No. The shower and sauna at Assiniboine Lodge are available for lodge guests only.

Can I fly my gear in or out of the Naiset Huts while I hike or ski in?

Yes. It costs $5/pound and there is a storage fee if you can not pick your bag up within 2 days of flying it in.

What is the maximum occupancy of each cabin?

Please see Sleeping Arrangements on What is at the Naiset Huts
