Your Winter Experience

Mount Assiniboine Park is a true winter wonderland. The ski terrain around Assiniboine Lodge lends itself to telemarking, alpine touring and back-country nordic skiing. Whether you are a beginner with determination or an advanced skier seeking the famous Canadian Rockies champagne powder you can enjoy skiing in Mount Assiniboine Park. We have a Rocky Mountain snowpack and usually have a settled snowpack of close to 2 meters. There are many gentle ski slopes which offer flatter terrain for beginners and more intermediate and advanced options for those who like turning in the powder. Our guides are certified professionals who provide guests with varied and enjoyable outings. Avalanche beacons, shovels and probes are supplied for Assiniboine Lodge guests.

A cold day at Assiniboine can be -25°C and a spring skiing day can be +10°C. Skiers can discover untracked mountain peaks, glades of perfectly spaced snow-covered trees and gentle ski tours through alpine meadows blanketed in snow. It is never too cold or snowy to enjoy a day in the mountains. Our guides lead the guests each day and will provide guiding for either alpine ski touring or back country nordic type skiing depending on the dates reserved for your stay (each set of dates is specific to the type of guiding that will be offered).  The final destination might be sipping tea on the porch at Lizzie's Cabin at Sunburst Lake or carving down Ellie's Dome on a bluebird powder day.
